Ross Township was named the ‘new frontier’ of Butler County by the Journal News, citing the spurt of residential growth in the once rural area. Ross was first called “Venice” when the area was for platted by Dr. Benjamin Franklin Clark in 1817.

Settlers came to the Fairfield area in 1794 following the Symmes (or Miami) Purchase. US Route 127 and SR 4 began as bridle paths. With the construction of the Miami and Erie Canal along and the railroad, the community grew. The Fairfield area had pockets known as Symmes Corner, Jones Station, Furmandale and Fairplay. Just 18 miles north of Cincinnati, Fairfield became a successful blend of industrial and residential development. The city of Fairfield was incorporated in 1955 and has now boasts almost 42,000 residents and more than 1,200 businesses.

Fairfield Township was established in 1795, the area has evolved from a farming community to an urban township. The area is 22 miles north of Cincinnati, Ohio with 23,000 residents.

Whitewater Township marks the southwest corner of Hamilton County and the state of Ohio. Harrison and Crosby Township border Whitewater Township to the north and Colerain and Miami Townships lie eastward. The Great Miami and Whitewater Rivers weave their way between the three township communities: Elizabethtown and Hooven, and Miamitown, renowned for its numerous antique shops.
